It's the Delegates Stupid !!!

.
It’s Not How Many Primary States You Win ... It Is ...
.
Winning 1,144 GOP Delegates …
An estimated 2,286 delegates will attend the 2012 Republican National Convention in Tampa FL, and be voting on who the GOP's Presidential candidate with be ... A simple majority 1,144 of the total 2,286 delegates is all that is required to become the party's nominee ...
.
Even the most optimistic delegate projections show it to be nearly impossible for Rick Santorum or Newt Gingrich to win the 1,144 delegates necessary to secure the GOP nomination.
.
For Republicans, in 2012, there are potentially 3 Super Delegates in each state, consisting of the state chairman and two RNC Committee Members. However, certain states either have NO Super Delegates or have them bound by the results of the state primary vote.  In 2012, there are 126 Republican Super Delegates.
.
.
Selecting Delegates …
The Republican Party rules for selecting those delegates vary from state to state. In some states, a portion of delegates is allotted to each congressional district, while in others the entire state is allowed a certain number of delegates. Generally each state chooses ten "at-large" delegates and three additional "district delegates" for each Representative that state has in the House. Each state can also earn bonus delegates if a Republican candidate won that state in the last presidential election, or if the state elected Republicans to Congress, the governorship, or state legislative majorities.
.
What is a delegate?
Delegates are individuals chosen to represent their states at their party conventions prior to a presidential election. The rules for selecting delegates, which are dictated by the parties, the guidelines vary not only by party, but by state, and sometimes by congressional district. A party might grant additional delegates as a reward if a state has a recent history of supporting that party.   Delegates are often party activists, local political leaders, or early supporters of a given candidate.
.
Most Presidential candidates have a Director of Delegate Counting whose sole function is to keep track of the Delegates pledged to their candidate and to Devise and Execute a Delegate Plan ...
.
.
What are Super Delegates …
.
First thing to you need to know about Super Delegates is that there's nothing super about them. They get one vote at the National Convention just like Pledged Delegates.

Super Delegates were created originally by Democrats in 1980 hoping to provide more establishment input into the process and to diminish the chances of getting an outlier and unvetted candidates as their nominees. i.e. Carter and McGovern ...
.
Super Delegates are usually the State RNC Chairman and two RNC Committee Members …
.
Candidates spend so much time pursuing well-heeled donors and primary voters many forget the Super Delegates and Delegate counts...
.
Super Delegates no more than a handful, (usually 3 from each state),  in the majority of states they are appointed at the discretion of party leaders, without regards to the primary or caucus results. Super Delegates in most cases are Free to Vote For or Vote as Told for any candidate ...
.
.
Super Delegates can be Lobbied and Influenced to vote for a particular candidate.  It is important to Presidential Candidates to convince enough of these Super Delegates to join with Pledged Delegates to create a nominating majority at the National Convention to win the nomination.
.
Example of Importance - Even though Romney lost the Mississippi Primary he Won the state because he won the Super Delegates giving him more delegates than Santorum.
.
Santorum Has a Delegate Counter …
Rick Santorum's hired Delegate Counter John Yob to oversee his delegate operation. John Yob, a political strategist from Michigan, who advised the Santorum campaign in the days leading up to the Wolverine State primary, will took on the responsibility of heading up the campaign's delegate strategy.  Unfortunately it did not help him much, Romney was better organized.  Santorum lost the delegate count in Mississippi …
.
Romney’s Delegate Counter …
Romney’s Campaign Manager is Rich Beeson and his Delegate Counter.   Beeson had been the political director of the Republican National Committee since January 2007.  Immediately prior to this, Beeson was a partner at FLS Connect, a political telemarketing firm. Beeson first joined the RNC in 1997 as a regional finance director, and from 1998 until 2005, he was a regional political director.
.
Newt’s Delegate Counter …
Who cares, he is not going to win …
