 .
Today 2012, the KKK considers themselves a Bible based Christians, conservative, many GOPers that base their doctrines upon their own reading of the Bible. Their theology is strongly influenced by Christian Reconstructionism.  The Klan hopes to "reconstruct" the United States along the biblical lines primarily the Old Testament and to establish a white-dominated theocracy.

KKKs History U.S.
The Ku Klux Klan is a social group that claims to be widely misunderstood to this day. Back on December 24, 1865, when the private social club came about, it consisted of a few college educated Confederate veterans in Pulaski, TN, about 60 mi south of Nashville, who founded the club. In the beginning, the main goal of the Ku Klux Klan was to have fun, make mischief, and play pranks on the public. The founders, including Frank McCord, John B. Kennedy, Maj. James Reed, Richard Reed, and Calvin Jones all were given surrogate titles ranking them within the clan like the Grand Cyclops and the Grand Turk supposedly comical titles.  The white hoods and sheets were originally supposed to be humorous, used to represent the ghost of zombies of Confederate war dead.
 .

When the “Black Codes” (the first versions of Civil Rights Laws as we know them today) were passed after the Civil War, it caused the South to rebell; the whites began to terrorize African Americans. With the ratification of the new constitution and freedmen taking public office, whites began to rebel against the new society that they felt the Republicans had thrust upon them. This started the Ku Klux Klan's image as a violent, racial organization.
 .
By 1868, the organization had spread across the South with a unified structure.
 .
Because of an increase in the number of kidnappings and murders, the grand wizard of the Klan ordered it disbanded in 1869, but local groups remained active. The rest of the nation reacted strongly to the increased violence in the South, and Congress passed the Force Act in 1870 and the Ku Klux Klan Act in 1871, authorizing the president to suspend the writ of habeas corpus, suppress disturbances by force, and impose heavy penalties on terrorist organizations. Resulting federal prosecution of Klan members, however, this created widespread Southern sympathy in their behalf. As Southern political power gradually reverted to traditional white Democratic control during the 1870s, and the need for anti-Republican, anti-black organizations to remain secret decreased.
 .
The Klan was reorganized in 1915 near Atlanta, Ga., and its popularity peaked in the 1920s when its membership exceeded 4 million nationally, with strong organizations in the Midwest, with the strongest in the Deep South. The new Klan began to persecute Blacks, Roman Catholics, Jews, foreigners, Communists, and organized labor.

Stressing white Protestant supremacy, the Klan enjoyed a spurt of growth in 1928 as a reaction to the Democrats' nomination for President of Alfred E. Smith, a Roman Catholic.
 .
In the mid-1960s, as civil rights workers attempted to promote compliance with the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Klan revived once again. It faded rapidly after President Lyndon Johnson denounced the organization in 1965.
 .

The Klan revived with renewed vigor in the late 1970s …
 .
In the 1990s the Klan fragmented into separate and sometimes competing groups i.e. neo-Nazi, right-wing extremist groups, white Protestant supremacy religious groups, as well as 100s of …

In the year 2000, at the beginning of the 21st Century there were as many as 150 Klan chapters across the United States.
 .
Since late 2006 the Anti-Defamation League has revised its assessment of the Ku Klux Klan, claiming that "The Ku Klux Klan, which just a few years ago seemed static or even declining, has experienced a surprising and troubling resurgence due to the successful exploitation of hot-button issues including Obama racism … religion … immigration… gay marriage ….  and crime …

KKK Birth Place in Florida  …
 .
Welatka FL near Gainesville and bordering the Ocala National Forest is considered by many as the birth place of the KKK in Florida on November 7 1867.  First called the Constitutional League later renamed Young Men’s Democratic ClubsWelaka FL in Putnam County FL today, 2012, has a population of around 600 …
 .
Between 1865 and 1867, all of the former Confederate states passed their own version of the black codes to keep freedmen subordinate to whites. Northern Republicans were outraged with these injustices and believed that Presidential Reconstruction was a failure. When Congress met in 1867, the Radical Republicans in both houses decided to create new laws for the South which prevented former rebels from running the state governments and enfranchised the freedmen.

Others consider wealthy planter Joseph John Williams Place the founder and Tallahassee FL the Official Birth place of the KKK in Florida in early 1868. Frustrated with the number of freedmen at the polls that he started the Ku Klux Klan in Florida under the name of the Young Men’s Democratic Club.
 .
Young Men’s Democratic Clubs was formed in the late 1860s to fight political domination by Republican northerners and blacks reportedly burned the homes of many Republicans and killed nineteen, including five blacks. A black man was taken from the jail and lynched in 1871. In 1891 a black man and a white man, members of a dreaded gang, were also taken from the jail and lynched.
.
Later that year a black man accused of giving shelter to Harmon Murray, another member of that gang, was also taken from the jail and lynched. The city had only a single police officer until well into the 20th century, which was inadequate to deal with the violence. A posse authorized by the city council also did little to stem the violence. Punishments for crime included public executions, the pillory, lashes and fines.

A major platform in the rise of the KKK was the election of Obama in 2008 offering Racism platform as the new reason to come on board, as well as Protestant Christianity being Born Again but NOT in a true Christian sense.
